Man in a Room (MIAR) is producer Steven Connolly from Northside, Dublin Ireland. He started his love of electronic music in the days of M.A.R.R.S and Technotronic etc. A regular club go-ER to the now infamous underground clubs in Dublin at the time (Olympic, Asylum, Sides), Steven instantly wanted to be part of the music making process. He and close friend Alan Walsh decided to form a electronic band (under different names) and with carrying success. Most notable of which was "C-Quence" who were a big name in the Dublin clubbing scene in the mid 90's. Having a residency in the "Ormonde multimedia center" was rare especially for a live PA. They were fortunate enough to play in most of the main venues and with many and national and international act. Providing support for soon to be BIG TIME "Paul Okenfold" "Darren Emerson" "Mickey Finn" and the likes... Cutting his teeth with names such as these was obviously an encouragement and eventually Steven decided to hold off from playing live and concentrate on the production side of things. At the best of times, this is a black art and so he spent the next couple of years learning the craft. Hours a day inside his room inspired the name "Man in a Room". As time passed Steven's ears matured and leaving the chemically driven 4/4 beats to the past he now has a more matured taste in music. Listening to all and everything has given him a broad range of influences. DnB has always been a passion but Jazz has found its way into his heart. Getting older, brings a more organic outlook on things. Steven is now producing many different genres of music. His aim is to be as eclectic as possible. As he says himself " I love trying new styles and hope it's something I'll always do. It's about experimenting and trying to become wiser from the experience". Such is life....
Steven has been asked to do a remix for Elektroorganik, Check it out here: http://www.myspace.com/maninaroom
